OK, we’ve blogged about this problem before. Surprise medical bills. Check our last post to get the full story, but here’s the short version. You go to the emergency room at a hospital your insurance says is in-network. Two months later you get a bill from a radiologist or pathologist or some other doctor, maybe even the one who saw you in the emergency room, and that bill says they are out of network, so you owe thousands more than you expected.

Well, some states are now starting to make this practice illegal. We’ll keep this post updated with a list of states that have enacted laws against surprise medical bills.
